My Big Plunge plays a crucial role in stimulating the start-up ecosystem of the country

The latest trend shows that an increasing number of students who have just completed their graduation are giving up offers from big companies as they are more interested to work with start-up companies. With advanced technologies, market demand and enormous funding the start-up industry is blooming fast in our country. Hence individuals are leaving their lucrative jobs to start their own ventures. The business minded government of India is encouraging this start-up ecosystem as it has the potential to contribute in the overall economic growth of the nation and job creation for youth. Not only the government of India, media is also playing crucial role in stimulating this start-up industry by featuring stories about the services or products of these companies so that people get to know about these.

Launched in 2013, by Ashutosh Bhattacharya, My Big Plunge is a portal which covers several articles, features about these enterprises and interviews of big entrepreneurs who have already created names for themselves in the industry. Several documentaries highlighting the entrepreneurial journey of entrepreneurs are also seen on the website. People can watch the videos of PressPlay, OlaCab, MayMyTrip, CashKaroetc on the YouTube page of the website. Women entrepreneurs can also be encouraged by reading the interviews of ePsyClinic Founder ShipraDawar and PMR CEO AakankshaBhargava who have spoken about their journey along the challenges that the women entrepreneurs mostly face in this male-dominated industry while launching their business. My Big Plunge has made itself unique by giving attention to the social entrepreneurship of the country. It has presented an interesting video of ‘Goonj’; founded by Anshu Gupta and his partner Meenakshi Gupta, this organization is the provider of proper clothing in the rural areas of India. The organization was also involved with the relief efforts of Bihar flood, Assam flood, Uttarakhand flood, Chamoli earthquake etc. The portal has brought out a special video which showcases the story of a ‘Chaiwallah’ LaxmanRao, who in true sense sells tea near the ITO area in Delhi and also has written more than 20 novels and plays. His himself publishes and distributes his books. Some of the books, written by Rao are available at the Delhi Public Library and many school libraries.

My Big Plunge is truly a unique portal as it also focuses on the cultural aspects of India. Recently, it has featured an article about the different colourful autumn festivals of the country. The story has named 5 important festivals like DurgaPuja of Kolkata, Aranmula Boat race of Kerala, Ladakh festival of Leh, Mysore Dasara festival of Mysore and Navratri festival of Ahmedabad; the portal suggests that people should attend these festivals at least one in their lifetime in order to understand the diverse culture of the country.

In order to boost up the newcomers of the industry and promote the already existing enterprises, My Big Plunge is expected to bring more and more interesting start-up stories, videos and interviews on their website which will definitely help people becoming more enthusiasts about the growing start-up ecosystem.
